This is a Bloctube Controls of Aylesbury (BCA) MKIII Jig Boring Machine, standing on a Tenga cabinet. 

After an enquiry to Tenga, I am told this particular model was built in 1969.

You will see that on first inspection it looks to be in good condition and just a bit dirty.

I decided to give it a good clean and I am very happy that I did. The old grease was full of metallic grit and filings that I am sure would be wearing down the bearing surfaces.

I also got to see the lovely hand scraping, which was noted to be quite worn down in places. Unfortunately I am not yet equipped to re-scrape the surfaces but this will be a future project.

This model has the original, three-phase motor running it but power is supplied by a VFD inverter plugged into the domestic plug socket.

It's a nice machine, clearly designed for coordinate drilling and hole boring as there is not a single radial bearing found anywhere that would take the loads during milling operations.
